在古老时代，噩运王（Nightmare）企图统治整个宇宙， dispatching countless monsters to wreak havoc across the cosmos. A band of free-spirited individuals formed the Cosmic Knights to counter their onslaught, yet the horde of monsters was too great, causing the knights to fall one by one. Only the Iron Knight (Metanight) remained, who believed that a new Star Warrior would emerge, thus he persisted in roaming the universe. He knew that King DedeDE possessed a monster-downloading system, so he joined forces with him, as areas inhabited by monsters were more likely to spawn Star Warriors. As anticipated, a new Star Warrior – Kabi arrived, riding a cosmic vessel. However, he awakened two centuries ahead of schedule, leaving him clueless about the world and even unable to speak coherently. Yet, his combat potential was undeniable. The Iron Knight entrusted his ward, Dreamy (Foom), with caring for Kabi so that he could grow strong enough to one day face off against the Nightmare.
