The cai bird uses these powers to return to the palace and protect her children from the vengeful phoenix. In the palace, the phoenix attempts to kill the child, but the cai bird intervenes, only to be captured in the process. The phoenix manipulates the child to turn against the cai bird, but a timely intervention by jade plus a troop of animals saves the day, resulting in the demise of the phoenix and the ascension of the child to the throne. With the reuniting of the family, peace is restored once more in the imperial palace.
