于民国初年，潘家长世代inherits the esteemed Silk Mill, EverThai. Their dominance in the local business landscape is unquestionable, with deep roots firmly entrenched. Despite being the eldest son, Tsen Pao (portrayed by Meng Zhangqing) struggles to shoulder the family burden due to his lack of ability and timid nature. In contrast, it is the youngest sister, Tsen Sze (played by Kang Hua), who diligently takes charge, keeping the family affairs in order with meticulous precision.
The third son, Tsen Piu (played by Ma Chi-kuei), enjoys his father's favor, yet is consumed by the pursuit of medicine, having long since departed from home.
Pang Biu Yun (portrayed by Sui Mei-qi) is a valued worker under Tsen Sze and harbors a long-buried affection for Tsen Pao. However, weak-willed as he is, Tsen Pao succumbs to his family's command, marrying the affluent Miss Yang Liang Tao (played by Lei Cuicui) instead.
One day, the long-absent Tsen Piu returns, setting in motion the gears of fate for the Tsen family. Amidst the joyous reunion, what awaits them is not the anticipated warmth but rather Tsen Sze's cold, lifeless body.
