剧情简介

Embark on an intense Western saga of valor, vengeance, and tragic destinies, skillfully woven around the complex life trajectory of the swordsman known as Eight-Notches. This charismatic anti-hero relies on his mastery of the blade for survival, drawing the affection of young widow Gan Cao. However, their love is a source of pain and longing for her son, 'The Mule', who also cherishes Gan Cao. The Mule's loyalty to Gan Cao leads him to save Eight-Notches from a ruthless bully named Ma Ze, but at the cost of his own life. In retaliation, Eight-Notches slays Ma Ze, bringing an end to his career as a swordsman and leading Gan Cao and The Mule into exile in a small desert town where he earns a living as a blacksmith. Years later, a notorious bandit leader, Yang Mingyuan, arrives in the town selling coffins. To boost his business, he deliberately stirs up rivalry between two local powerful figures, Lee Ziqian and Hu the Tavern Owner, inciting them to wage war. Eight-Notches intervenes to diffuse the tension, but Yang Mingyuan, nursing a grudge against Eight-Notches, manages to usurp his position as town chief and instigate a blood feud between Lee and Hu's families, leading to the destruction of the peaceful town. Unable to bear this injustice, Eight-Notches dons his swordsmanship robes once more... A decade later, The Mule has grown into manhood, yet lacks the means to marry due to Eight-Notches' poverty. He trades the horse given by 'The Mule' years ago for a bride named Huan Huan and a marriage is arranged. However, fate plays a cruel trick as The Mule contracts an embarrassing ailment that prevents him from consummating his marriage with Huan Huan. This secret is discovered by the horse trader Zhao Zhen, who takes advantage of the situation to seize Huan Huan, humiliating Eight-Notches' family. Gan Cao unsuccessfully sues Zhao Zhen for justice, while The Mule fails in his attempt to avenge Huan Huan and is forced to leave with her, leaving Eight-Notches bitter, heartbroken, and sitting desolate on the arid plains of the desert.
