在笼络的兰屿之中，一枝红虫使得居民中出现皮肤痧疮、发热、甚至面临生命危险！ island inhabitants, steeped in superstition, distrust medicine and instead place faith in the village elder and shaman Bada (played by Huang Zongxiu). The young physician He Wede (Zhang Chong) arrives on the island, juggling his medical practice with a search for his missing father, who had previously researched the red bugs on Lan Yu. This quest for truth leads to a rift with his fiancee, Bai Danya (He Lili), setting the stage for a series of intertwining destinies.
He encounters Father Ji (Ji Shoucong) and the orphan Yalan (Zeng Peipei), who harbors feelings for He but is pursued by Wudaha, the son of the village elder (Wang Xiaohu). The ensuing jealousy leads Wudaha and Bada to plot He's demise. In a twist of fate, He and Yalan venture into the treacherous red-capped peak forest in search of his father, unaware of the perils that lie ahead...
