Embark on a captivating journey aboard a leisurely train traversing the breathtaking landscapes of the vast Sichuan Basin. The tale unfolds as we journey from Yunnanping to Xichang, then onwards to Yanbian, with stopovers at picturesque towns such as Mohehua, Yuxi, and Guancunba. This stretch of the Kunming-Chengdu Railway boasts the most stunning natural vistas and the most authentic Pumi culture of the Daocheng region; it also carries the weight of a poignant historical legacy.
Our protagonists, Qu Dong and Ma Hou, set off on this leisurely train ride through Daocheng. The enigmatic Nyazi Erili, our male lead, is a poet from the Uighur ethnicity. His ancestors had migrated from the southern frontier to the northern plateau, and he was born in Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. From childhood, he yearned to explore the southlands and immerse himself in the traditional Uighur culture, tracing his own ancestral roots. This train journey becomes a transformative odyssey for all three characters as they uncover the rich tapestry of their shared heritage and grapple with the weight of history.
