Cats Black and White investigate the murders, suspecting that one of the inhabitants of the Stack is the culprit. When they accuse Erl, Lee refuses to believe it. They bind Erl and perform a ritual to prevent Lee from taking her away. One night, Lee discovers another presence within his body – his dead friend Awang who had been using Lee's body to kill hotel guests. It turns out that when the scientist Taoxian reassembled Lee, he also included some of Awang's body parts in the process. Struggling to control himself, Lee eventually commits suicide, and Erl is transformed into a plush doll by Tao-Xian. I-One, who asks everyone "Who am I?" without receiving an answer, suddenly calls out to his father Luo-Shi, asking about the whereabouts of his mother. The Stack collapses, and I-One wakes up from his dream state, completely unaware, back in a pristine Stack.
