One day, some rich man lost something valuable, and Durga, Harrirhar's wife, took it to sell for their survival. Although Salbogia, their daughter, hated this act of dishonesty, she had no choice but to bear the humiliation. Harrirhar dreamt of using his writing to rejuvenate "门第" and escape their misery, but his meager monthly income of eight rupees and the burden of supporting his family prevented him from realizing his dreams, even as they struggled just to fill their stomachs. He was forced to leave his home in search of a better life, only to return and face an unimaginable disaster: a storm had destroyed their house, and Salbogia had succumbed to illness. Harrirhar's wife wept bitterly as they were left with nothing but memories of their lost daughter.
With a heavy heart, Harrirhar led his family away from their shattered homeland, in search of a new beginning. All that remained was the lifeless body of Salbogia, lying peacefully where she had died.
